Before the year was out, Ben was interviewed by the good folks over at The Independent Music Insider about what 2021 looked like for Aux and what we've got to look forward to in this new year.

You can read the full post here but if you're just interested in what our founder had to say then here's the full interview.

What’s been your biggest achievement in 2021?

Launching the Aux Beta app – the foundation of our music project collaboration tool – in just four months! It derived from the feedback of over 100 artists and music industry pro’s back in August. Based on their ideas (and with our pre-seed funding secured), our team of five built the new app with features that let artists backup and share music files with collaborators, create a public profile to showcase their work and connect with 300+ curated music organisations in the Aux Guide. Building and launching the app in this short amount of time is a fantastic achievement.

What’s been the biggest challenge in 2021?

The biggest challenge is also our biggest achievement, launching an entirely new music collaboration tool in just four months. The team was working flat out right up to our launch deadline on 25th November, building and refining the interface to make uploading and managing music project files super easy; setting up the backend that automatically creates previews of audio files uploaded to the platform available in the in-app media player; and building out the Aux Guide of 300+ labels, rehearsal spaces and publishing companies profiles.

What do you hope to achieve in 2022?

2022 is going to be a big year for Aux. We’ve already committed to a comprehensive open roadmap of feature releases that users can contribute to publicly on roadmap.aux.app, including a desktop app that automatically syncs music files from your computer, plus a mobile app for storing ideas and making suggestions on the go. If that wasn’t enough, we’re launching the Aux Awards to celebrate up and coming independent musicians succeeding in their careers in new and interesting ways.

What do you hope to see from the business more generally next year?

We hope to see a wider range of artists joining the platform from around the world. We have a community of thousands connected to Aux today, and as we launch more and more key features like the desktop syncing app and inbuilt support for Ableton and Logic files, we hope to expand this audience to the tens or hundreds of thousands as 2022 progresses. But we can’t do it without the help of independent artists. You can share your ideas and feedback with the Aux team on Twitter or Instagram, we are @autdotapp on both.
